Board of DirectorsOur Board of Directors has extensive experience in business and corporate development, including experiences with big pharmaceutical companies, and both private and public biotechnology companies.
John Bell, PhD: Co-Founder of Jennerex Biotherapeutics (see Management Team for more on Dr. Bell's background). Ron Vered, P.Eng., (Chair), is CEO of Arnon Corporation and past President of Ron Engineering and Construction (Eastern) Ltd., privately-owned real estate and construction companies based in Ottawa with international experience. Through the Vered Foundation, the Vered family has been active in and supportive of numerous causes including the United Jewish Appeal, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa Hospital. Mr. Vered is a Member of the Board of Trustees of S.C.O. Health Service and University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Herbert M. �Bob� Pinedo, is past President of ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology) and President of the Free University (VUMC) Cancer Center, Amsterdam. Dr. Pinedo is an internationally-renowned leader in translational cancer therapeutics development. He was a former board member of EORTC and the Dutch Cancer Society. He is currently an advisor to major international pharmaceutical companies and is on the Board of Directors of OSI Pharmaceuticals (Melville, NY). Martin Murphy, MD, is Founding Chairman and CEO of AlphaMed Consulting, Inc. providing strategic support to the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, in addition to cancer centers and patient advocacy groups. He is Founding Executive Editor of the international, peer-reviewed journal, The Oncologist, read by more than 12,000 physicians. He was Founder and CEO of the Hipple Cancer Research Center. He is also the Founding member of the President's Roundtable on Cancer, and acts as convener of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, founded by Robert A. Ingram (former CEO Glaxo-Smithkline) at the request of a former U.S. President. Brennan Mulcahy, is CEO of Energy Saving Income Fund, Toronto, ON (TSX:SIF.UN), a publicly-traded company with over $700 million CAD in sales per year. He is also a major donor to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre to support cancer research. Joe Irvine, M.Sc., MBA, is Director of Technology Transfer and Business Enterprise for the University of Ottawa. He has served in numerous capacities at the University of Ottawa since 1989, including responsibility for intellectual property and contract/ clinical research administration. As President of the Ottawa Heart Institute Research Corporation he facilitated the creation of two spin-off companies that went public: WorldHeart Corporation and Liponex Inc. |
